Helicopter Deployment in Disaster Areas

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The access to powerful helicopters with experienced pilots is of great value in reaching cutoff disaster areas. We can organize relief flights during floods and wildfires. Furthermore, we can transport people and materials after storms, earthquakes, or other calamities. If you urgently need relief helicopters, call our free hotline. We have experts standing by 24 hours a day that can advise you further.

Floods

Helicopters are often used to transport sandbags to damaged levees and floodwalls in areas threatened by flooding. The type of helicopter selected depends on the maximum weight of the sandbags that are to be transported. If required, additional sandbags can be attached to the hub of the helicopter via a special net.

Professional ground teams, experienced pilots, and a fuel truck supplied by us will ensure the uninterrupted use of the helicopter. We can accommodate you should you need additional flights to secure the damaged levees or floodwalls. Naturally, the helicopters can assist in the rescue of humans and the transportation of animals with the help of a hoist or other fastening devices. Up to 20 people at once can be transported out of the flooded area in the interior of our large helicopters, which are subject to availability.

Wildfires

The high temperatures above major wildfires and the resulting oxygen shortages limit the effectiveness of most helicopter turbines. That is why we employ only heavy lift helicopters in wildfire areas.
Only the largest helicopters can collect and then spread a sufficient amount of water over wildfires effectively. Operations of this kind can be coordinated in any country as long as the cooperation with the proper authorities can be assured.

Storms

Helicopters can play a significant role in alleviating the various consequences of major storms. Apart from removing difficult to reach debris, helicopters can be utilized to carry felled trees out of overgrown forests. In so-called “logging flights”, a professional team attaches special straps to the tree.

Two experienced helicopter pilots then fly the tree to a specified area. The logging technique can also be adapted for sick or unbent trees. In these cases, the straps are attached to the treetop. The helicopter rises into the air with the entire tree directly after the tree has been sawed off. This technique not only allows us to remove trees from any part of the forest, but also minimizes the damage to the rest of the forest more than any other customary technique.

Earthquakes

Otherwise inaccessible areas are often only reachable by air. We employ helicopters of all shapes and sizes in earthquake relief efforts worldwide. Our smaller helicopters can be used to monitor disaster areas, to control larger-scale relief efforts, and to partake in measurement flights. You can transport debris and building materials or evacuate people from the affected areas with our large helicopters. Call our experts- we will be glad to help you choose a suitable helicopter for your operation.
